MATFA selected as Delphi Award Finalists!

It is with incredible excitement that we announce that the Mid-Atlantic Teaching Faculty Alliance was officially selected as finalists in the 2025 Delphi Award by the Pullias Center for Higher Education. This recognition demonstrates the momentum our grassroots effort is building. We thank the Pullias Center for this recognition and we look forward to continuing our efforts and submitting to the award again in the near future!
About the Delphi Award: The annual Delphi Award presents a $15,000 cash award to support VITAL faculty (also known as contingent, non-tenure track and/or adjunct) in pursuing strategic priorities such as student learning and community engagement. Since 2018, the Pullias Center and AAC&U have presented a total of $180,000 to our winning institutions. The purpose of the Delphi Award is to support policies, practices and programs that ameliorate the issues facing contingent, non-tenure-track and adjunct — also known as VITAL — faculty. This is particularly important because faculty bring assets and benefits to campuses, departments and academic units but are often prevented from using their talents effectively to support students and contribute to institutional priorities aligned with improving campus(es) and contributing to the learning mission of higher education.
About our Finalist Selection: The Mid-Atlantic Teaching Faculty Alliance (TFA) is a collaboration among VITAL faculty at Philadelphia area institutions Rutgers University (Camden and New Brunswick campuses), Temple University, University of Delaware, Bryn Mawr and the University of Pennsylvania. The group was formed in 2024 as a grassroots, cross-institutional network which builds community among VITAL faculty, facilitates the exchange of successful policy models and fosters mutual mentoring networks. Its flagship initiative is the annual Off the Tenure Track Retreat, a rotating conference that brings together faculty and campus leadership to share and learn from effective policies and experiences.
